On 25 June 2024, the Chang'e-6 lunar probe successfully returned to Earth with lunar soil samples from the far side of the Moon, marking a historic milestone in China's lunar exploration programme. This exhibition celebrates the achievement alongside China's broader advancements in aerospace, aviation and navigation. Through a systematic presentation of technological innovations, the exhibition highlights China's significant position in the global scientific and technological landscape. Featuring a rich array of artefacts, models, graphics, videos and interactive exhibits, the exhibition not only explains key scientific principles, but also seeks to inspire the public, especially young people, with a passion for technological innovation, while fostering national confidence in scientific and technological advancement.
The exhibition is divided into four sections: the "Exploring the Cosmos" aerospace zone focuses on China's breakthroughs in lunar exploration and space technology, with a spotlight on the milestone accomplishment of Chang'e-6's lunar far-side sampling; the "Soaring Wings" aviation zone showcases the innovative journey of China's aviation industry, detailing advancements in aviation technology and aircraft engineering; the "Illuminating the Seas" maritime zone highlights China's latest developments in ocean exploration and shipbuilding technologies; and the "Hong Kong Shining" zone introduces the vital contributions of Hong Kong researchers to national space exploration and deep-sea research, emphasising Hong Kong's scientific capabilities.
The exhibition is one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has all along promoted Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public learn more about broad and profound Chinese culture.
